'The best shed I've ever eaten in"
- Nathan Outlaw

The Coddy Shack is whatever you want it to be. That could be a quick stop-off for fish and chips after a day on the beach, or sharing seafood with friends in our restaurant. Add to this a well-stocked bar and live music nights, and you can see how we cater for everyone (dogs included).

We’re the only fully licensed fish and chip restaurant and take-away in Looe. The Coddy Shack is in the pretty countryside just outside town, and we’re lucky to have a large car park for our customers.

Our story

It started back in ’66, when Colin’s parents bought a chip shop in Looe. From those early years to The Coddy Shack’s launch in 2010, Colin’s never lost his love for the fryer. Known as Colin the Cod or the Codfather, he’s a well-liked local character, known for his sparky personality and exceptional fish and chips.

Over the years, Colin has trained many young Looe kids in the art of frying. One of his trainees, Jason, is now his business partner. Along with Hannah and Emma, they built a fantastic team and started the quirky Coddy Shack in a former farm building near Looe. Over the last decade, The Coddy Shack has grown from a small take away in an old pig stye to a 60-seater restaurant and live music venue. But we haven’t forgotten our origins, and Colin’s team still fries the best fish supper in Cornwall.

Our 60-seater restaurant is back, still exuding that same laid-back, friendly vibe that you've come to love. But that's not all; we've also expanded our offerings to include breakfast and Sundays, giving you even more reasons to visit The Coddy Shack. While our surroundings may have changed, our commitment to serving up the finest seafood with a smile remains as strong as ever. We continue to prioritiSe fresh, sustainable Cornish produce to tantaliSe your taste buds, ensuring that The Coddy Shack remains a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.

The five star rating is not just for the food but for the wonderful staff whose enthusiasm and helpful manner went along way to making out first (and by no means last) visit to The Coddy Shack so memorable.
